CI Works would like to welcome a new member to our community of small businesses and makers – Coastal Creek Woodworks, owned and operated by Richard Simard.
Coastal Creek Woodworks specializes in farmhouse furniture, cutting boards, charcuterie and serving trays, and so much more. They also make custom wood and epoxy clocks and have a full equestrian line of tack boxes, saddles stands, and bridle hooks.
Richard Simard's passion for woodworking and furniture making is inspired by his family. He was trained by the generations before him and began woodworking in his youth. So, it was only natural for him to build a business out of doing the very thing that he loved and grew up doing. Through Coastal Creek Woodworks, Richard is continuing the family tradition with his own wife and three daughters who can often be found helping him in his workshop.
Richard's shop also doubles as an educational site. He proudly works in the special needs community teaching young adults the basics in furniture design and assembly. His main goal is to stay in this community and reach as many people as he can. Along with his wife, Richard has worked in the special needs world for many years now and find great joy in teaching! Their long-term goal is to remain in this field and continue to bring the joy of woodworking to everyone.
We had the chance to ask Richard a few questions about his new start inside the CI Works walls. Read below to learn more!
How do you think being located at CI Works will help you to grow your business?
It's a beautiful workspace with plenty of room for growth. Being surrounded by other businesses with the possibilities of networking and collaborating is also very interesting and something I'm looking forward to.
What is something you want other tenants at CI Works to know about you and your business?
I'm very open to collaborating, helping out if needed, and being able to learn new things from new people and maybe teach some stuff that I might know.
We are very excited to have Richard and Coastal Creek Woodworks join our community! We can't wait to see what collaborations arise between Richard and the other amazingly talented makers located here.
